Something to think about... Invest in your memories.

www.expressionsbynaomi.com

Since I found out we were expecting our third child, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on the two precious boys I have been blessed with already. I think about when they were born and how tiny they were, how precious they were, how I could not get enough of them and how I wanted them to stay that way forever! But within just a couple weeks, they had changed so much! Now years later, it seems so long ago that they were my precious little babies that I had once carried inside of me. I have spent many hours looking through pictures from those first weeks and so on, just remembering and cherishing those times. I would give anything to go back to those days and take more and more pictures because I feel like I just don't have enough.

People ask, why have pictures taken when they are just 10 days old (or less)? Wouldn't you rather wait till they are older, when they can smile?

True that those smiles are precious and who doesn't love to see their baby smile, but the reason I believe it is so important to capture those first moments at just days old is because there are so many details that fade so quickly... The wrinkles of their new skin, those tiny little feet and toes that used to kick up a storm while you were trying to sleep, that little nose, those perfect lips, those long beautiful eyelashes, and all that hair that we all know they loose so quickly in the first few months. I want to remember all of it because its those little things that we sometimes forget as our babies are growing so quickly right before our eyes!

We don't think twice to buy our children expensive toys that they will break or lose interest in, or to buy the latest fashion trends (why is it that baby's clothes cost the same as adults?), but we sometimes forget that the things that will be cherished most are the pictures that we hold so dear. I love sitting down with my boys and looking at picture albums of them when they were little. They are fascinated by the pictures and the stories that go with them. Pictures are not an expense they are an investment. They are memories that you will hold onto forever! When we are gone the ones we love will remember us by the pictures we have. Why not capture every detail starting from when they are so precious a new?

I don't write this to lecture anyone, just something to think about...
Invest in your memories :)
